Picked up these two books recently, one a comprehensive survey on the histories, varieties and methods of Chinese tea, and the other a collection of essays by a Japanese tea practitioner. ๐Ÿ˜Œ Trying to patiently walk toward my dreams can be difficult sometimes given my too-intense, all-in, slightly reckless-type personality. But as a tea-drinking poet, patience is a lifestyle habit Iโ€™ve been practicing for years... Iโ€™m at least intermediate level now, so I think I can keep steady this season haha ๐Ÿ˜†
Texture on the worn down roads of Penang // a colour study?
Dad asked me what my favourite part of our travels were and I told him my favourite place in the world was where I could stand with feet in the sand, warm waves hitting my ankles. The shoreline is a place of endless emotion for me, and as I let myself brown a shade, get bitten by mozzies, tromp around in flip flops and sweat between my boobs, I felt this deep-in-my-bones joy. I wonder if this exuberance translates at all in that far cold north where I currently live, and I wonder when Iโ€™ll be here again walking the latitudes of the equator, all the humid heat in my blood. I wonder what kind of artist Iโ€™d be here, I wonder why my poetry keeps coming back to circle these landscapes, joy and grief, love and longing. I wonder if this is obsession or homecoming. I wonder in waves and tidelines and although the grounds shift under my feet, joy is constant still.

On that beautiful day, a squinty-eyed snorkel lady ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ saw sea urchins, swam with lots of fishies, waved at corals and crabs, and glimpsed a baby shark. For all those who are aware of my amphibian/fish phobias, know that I grew exponentially in character and panic control after accidentally ingesting too much seawater because I hyperventilated into my snorkel immediately upon trying to use it ๐Ÿคฃ However, after a few swallows and mental adjustments, I got along with the ocean swimmingly ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Stumbled across the lovely little @formsocietyhk in Sham Shui Po the other day. Picked up two independent magazines and eyed some of their screenprint merch as well. ๐Ÿ˜ŒThey were also hosting a kintsugi exhibition with some beautiful little bowls. My kinda jam through and through.
